Principals
David Mayhood is President of Mayhood and has the ultimate responsibility for all business. He has been involved in multi-family marketing and development in the Washington DC metropolitan area since 1972. For 11 years he served as Vice President in charge of Project Sales for Shannon & Luchs. In 1983 he founded Mayhood to specialize in the marketing of new condominium and townhome developments in metropolitan Washington, DC, and initial successes soon took Mayhood into other large U.S. new home markets. During the last two and a half decades, Mayhood has been involved in developments in Colorado, Florida, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, all the while helping clients exceed expectations in the Washington, DC home market. David Mayhood recently completed a three-year term as Chairman for the Washington ULI District Council. He also serves as ULI Council Counselor for the Washington, Baltimore and Northern New Jersey District Councils. Under his leadership, Washington District Council has successfully established a Smart Growth Alliance for the region and is currently actively pursuing a similar, long-term involvement with the District of Columbia focused on Affordable Housing. David is also active in the National Association of Homebuilders. He is a trustee for the Senior Housing Council and has twice chaired the Education Committee for NAHB’s Senior Housing Show.
Ann Scully is Executive Vice President of Mayhood. She has been with Mayhood since January 1984. For the last 19 years she has functioned as Vice President. In that capacity she works directly with David Mayhood in doing initial market research, preparing feasibility analysis, working with architects and land planners in product design and individual unit design and coordinating the marketing program. Ann is a member of the Urban Land Institute and is actively involved on its Workforce Housing Committee. She is a member of the Washington Metropolitan Sales and Marketing Council and has served on the Finest for Family Living Committee.
Ron Smith is Senior Vice President for Mayhood. He began his career in real estate brokerage in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Following that, he formed his own company and for more than ten years developed and constructed multi-family, single-family and light commercial projects. Since joining Mayhood in 1995, Ron has been responsible for the onsite sales and marketing efforts and client interface for more than 20 condominium projects, as well as single-family attached and detached communities. Clients include Charles E. Smith Companies, Bush Development, Lawrence M. Rubin, Lerner Enterprises, Akridge Development, and Renaissance Housing. Ron is actively involved in the Washington Metropolitan Sales and Marketing Council as a member of the Sales Achievement Committee. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
Valerie Wells is Vice President for Mayhood. Valerie is a real estate broker in three states and has worked in residential marketing and sales management since 1984. Her past clients include: Boston Properties, Reynolds Metals Development, Charles E. Smith Companies, Rose Associates, Conrad Cafritz, Hazel Land Companies, The Peterson Companies, NationsBank, and more. She originally joined Mayhood in 1988. Prior to re-joining Mayhood in 2002, she established her own brokerage firm in Loudoun County, Virginia. Valerie holds a law degree from the George Washington University National Law Center and is a member of the Virginia State Bar.
